Title |
Physical Chemistry III: Spectroscopy, incl. Exercises |
Description |
This course will discuss the following topics:
1. Interaction of molecules with light in the classical sense (Maxwell equations, Lorenz model) and in the quantum mechanical sense (transition moments, spectroscopic selection rules, Einstein coefficients).
3. Electronic spectroscopy (classification of transitions, vibronic band structure).
2. Vibrational and rotational spectroscopies (potential functions with one, two and multiple minima, normal coordinates)
4. Processes in the excited state (energy transfer, relaxation). |
