Description |
The tutorial ‘Introduction to Psychology’ is a face-to-face course and is designed to provide an overview of current topics and areas of psychology and to promote key skills for studying psychology. In small groups and under the guidance of tutors, important skills are developed in an interactive teaching format, such as searching, reading and critically reflecting on scientific literature. In addition, various (digital) teaching and learning tools are introduced, applied and discussed. Using a textbook and short group presentations, current topics in psychology in the age of digitalisation are discussed. The tutorial can also be used as a platform to clarify open questions and uncertainties relating to the psychology degree and should support the transition into academic life. The course lasts one semester and is completed without an exam. In order to receive 2 ECTS credits, regular attendance (max. 2 absences) as well as the fulfilment of small performance assessments (exercises on discussed topics, a group presentation and a short final report) are required.
