Title Clinical neuropsychology in patients during development
Description Content: In the seminar, brain development in childhood and adolescence is presented using data from modern imaging and the functional relevance of the different developmental periods is scrutinised. The topic of neuroplasticity in particular will be highlighted and insight into the background, application and interpretation of various MR sequences will be given - always in relation to the developing brain.
In addition, various childhood diseases that affect the central nervous system (e.g. epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, childhood stroke, oncological diseases) are introduced. It focuses on the aetiology and course of the diseases and in particular on the neuropsychological manifestations in childhood and adolescence. A focus will be placed on the factors that characterise cognitive development and recovery in childhood in particular. The effectiveness of neuropsychological interventions in childhood and adolescence will be presented and discussed.
Requirements: The seminar places high demands on active participation. Students will work on basic texts, practise neuropsychological tests, give presentations on in-depth topics, hold critical discussions in small groups and present the results of their work. A final test will be written during the Master's examination week to grade the 5 ECTS associated with the seminar (expected examination date xy, 10-12 a.m.).

Study focus: The work completed in the seminar is recognised for a Master's module in Developmental Psychology or Clinical Psychology of the Child (15, 30 or 45 ECTS) and as compulsory elective work.
