Title |
Why did Christianity survive in antiquity? And what does that mean for the church today? |
Description |
Why did the early Christian movement survive in antiquity? What distinguished it? What made it attractive to various actors from (almost) all social strata? How was it integrated into the cultural, religious, and social life of the metropolises of the Roman Empire? In this seminar, we will explore these enduringly fascinating questions and read the most important literature from various disciplines published in recent years. The goal is to create a vivid picture of the Jesus movement and the first Christ groups while also asking whether impulses from the 1st century can be applied to the 21st century. |
