Title |
Psychology of Digitalisation |
Description |
Why are you sometimes lying awake at night and still scrolling up and down on Insta, even though 10 minutes before you had already made the decision to finally go to bed? How is it possible that seminars through Zoom are so much more boring? Why do you only watch the first 10 seconds, at best, of videos on Tik Tok? Why would you rather write a message and wait for days for a response instead of just quickly calling? :-) Wow, why is this emoji so passive-aggressive? Why does advertising work on everyone but you? Why don’t you read cookie banners and ToCs? Why are you personally disappointed in me as a teacher when I tell you that ChatGPT has generated this announcement text?
With the increasing digitalisation of everyday life, there is a growing need for psychological theories about the processes and effects of digital technologies, as well as evidence-based recommendations for their use. The lecture "Psychology of Digitalisation" deals with the impact of digital technology on human behavior and experiences, motivation for media use, as well as digital communication. The lecture provides an overview of current research and theories on the psychology of digitalisation and through a method-critical lens discusses their importance for individual and social development. |
