Title Methods seminar: Improving the credibility of future research: Digital project management, data preparation and visualisation
Description At least part of why most of us go to university is so that we can later get a job in our chosen profession and provide for ourselves financially. According to the Nobel prize winning economist Paul Krugman, when it comes to economic growth, “productivity isn’t everything, but in the long run, it’s almost everything.” Today, increases in productivity in both science and industry are often achieved through digitalisation: greater availability and use of data, automation through code, and effective collaboration through software tools. These are no longer hyper specialised skill sets, but now are general skills for many careers and industries.
Whereas the majority of courses in your degree deal with the research content in a specific area, such as its theories and findings, this course instead focuses on the research process, with particular focus on efficiency, reproducibility, and collaboration. Using R and the tidyverse and easystats packages, you will learn digital project management skills, literate programming, data wrangling, and data visualisation.

If you chose the DIPG topic area, you will take this class as a Seminar. Only if you did not choose DIPG as a main topic area, you can take this class as a Methods Seminar.
