BA/MA Seminar: Anthropology and the News |
Description |
Achtung: Die Anmeldung zum Kurs gilt gleichzeitig als Anmeld7ung zur Leistungskontrolle! Es ist keine zusätzliche Anmeldung zur Leistungskontrolle nötig.
In this seminar, we follow current global media coverage and aim to develop anthropological perspectives on what is reported. How can we think as anthropologists about contemporary debates on emerging miliary conflicts, changing monetary policies, discussions over gender and race, or the rise of new social movements? In this experimental course, we aim to develop the tools to analyze current events anthropologically. Students will follow debates in media closely and discuss their observations in class. The aim is to develop a specific anthropological perspective on national and global trends, debates, and controversies. |
