Title Individual differences in cognitive abilities: From Aphantasia to "Super-recognizers"
Description Cognitive performance varies not only across development and adulthood, but also across individuals. In this seminar we want to examine similarities and differences in neurodevelopmental variations, which are characterized partly by above-average and partly by below-average cognitive performance in certain areas. We discuss phenomena such as prosopagnosia, super-recognizer, amusia, perfect pitch, synesthesia, “highly superior autobiographical memory”, “severely deficient autobiographical memory”, aphantasia and hyperphantasia. The goal is to work out laws relating to the neural basis that allow an overall view of individual differences in cognitive performance to be developed.
