Title HS World Arts and Music (MG): Introduction to World Arts and Music
Description This seminar introduces students to main concepts, theoretical approaches and central shifts in the field of World Arts. It explores the various methodologies of world art studies by analyzing key readings in the fields of art history, philosophy, social anthropology, as well as cultural and material studies. Examining contemporary artworks and the structures of today’s art world, it addresses the notions of circulations, connected histories, global platforms and networks in the perspective of transnational stories of art. The goal of the seminar is to encourage students to discuss key readings, theories and concepts in relation to specific case studies. Active participation in discussions and critical reflections throughout the semester is an essential part of the course. Please note a maximum of two absences are permitted.
