| Description |
Religion is usually associated with solemnity. If something should be seen as serious, it is religion – but is that right? When we look closer at practitioners of organized religion and contemporary spirituality, a more complicated picture emerges. Humor, games, ambiguity, and other marks of playful attitudes are found everywhere. Much of the creativity within religion comes exactly from such sources. In this course, we will investigate just what the role of playfulness is within contemporary religion and spirituality in the West. |
