Title |
Environmental Law |
Description |
Environmental law shapes the relationships between humans, animals and plants. It is therefore omnipresent and can only be understood from a legal-historical, sociolegal and legal anthropological perspective. The aim of the course is therefore, firstly, to analyse the philosophical, historical and socio-political foundations of Swiss environmental law. Secondly, the lecture will deal with the "techniques" of selected areas of environmental law, including noise and water protection as well as biodiversity and climate protection.
Special attention will also be paid to the enforcement of environmental law in order to relate its aspirations to its effects. In particular, the role of associations’ right to appeal and the courts will be discussed. Throughout the course, reference will be made to foreign legal systems and findings from other disciplines.
As some texts are written in English, a good passive knowledge of English is required. |
