Title Individual Differences (lecture)
Description This course explores basic topics in the Psychology of Individual Differences focusing on human abilities. Descriptive models of intelligence, creativity, as well as social and emotional intelligence will be addressed, but also theoretical foundations of these constructs. Using the construct of intelligence as an example, cognitive, neuroscientific, and genetic strategies of research on human abilities are explained. Consequences of individual differences in these abilities on everyday life are also discussed. Thus, a basic understanding of performance-related individual differences will be achieved.
The course consists of a lecture and a tutorial. The lecture will be made available as a podcast in advance. In the weekly face-to-face sessions, questions about the podcasts will be addressed as well as practical insights into the topics. For example, students will receive an introduction to EEG measurement and analysis as well as overviews of creativity tests and emotional intelligence tests.

Regular attendance at the classroom sessions is mandatory (max. two unexcused absences) as it is the listening to podcasts prior to the course and the preparation of literature. There will be a final written exam at the end of the semester.
