Anti-colonialism, revolution, and independence in the Americas, 1763-1826 |
| Description |
Als Folge der Unabhängigkeitsbewegungen des frühen 19. Jahrhunderts zerfielen die ehemaligen europäischen Kolonialgebiete Mittel- und Südamerikas sowie der Karibik in verschiedene Nationalstaaten. Das Seminar thematisiert die verschiedenen postkolonialen politischen Ordnungen, die aus den Unabhängigkeitskriegen hervorgingen, und fragt nach den Akteuren, Ideologien und Praktiken, welche die politische Entwicklung der Region bestimmten. Dabei sollen Forschungsansätze und -perspektiven der seit den 1990er Jahren neu belebten Politikgeschichte rezipiert und die politische Geschichte Lateinamerikas im Kontext des atlantischen Raums betrachtet werden. Ein regionaler Schwerpunkt liegt auf den ehemaligen spanischen Kolonialgebieten.
