| Description |
This course covers the design, development, and implementation of Excel-based decision support systems using various techniques from business analytics. The first part of the course consists of lectures and exercises, including an introduction to programming in Visual Basic for Applications, and a project; the latter consists of the development and implementation of a decision support system for a given planning situation.
«Quantitative Methoden der Betriebswirtschaftslehre», «Methoden und Anwendungen des Operations Research», or «Combinatorial Optimization» is a prerequisite. Students who have successfully completed an equivalent course should apply via email to bae.pqm@unibe.ch; please include an up-to-date sheet of grades and a syllabus of the equivalent course.
Please note that students should be able to implement a given optimization model in Microsoft Excel, use the solver add-in to find an optimal solution, and interpret the results. |
