Title |
Small but mighty! What the vestibular organ does for us every day. |
Description |
This proseminar focuses on the small but essential vestibular organ in our inner ear. Throughout the course, we will explore the following questions: How is the vestibular system structured? How are signals transmitted to our brain, and where in the brain are they processed? Why do we need our vestibular organs, and can we live without them? How can we assess their function? How do our vestibular organs influence our balance and cognition, and vice versa? Is there truly a link between vestibular function and dementia?
The proseminar consists of theoretical input through student presentations as well as practical components (site visits, exercises, discussions…).
Regular attendance, active preparation for sessions, and participation in exercises and discussions are expected. The final grade is based on the assessment of the presentation. |
