| Title |
Media and the Politics of Doubt |
| Description |
Durchgeführt von Ani Baghumyan:
Media re-construct and re-present reality. They reinforce existing hierarchies while simultaneously challenging them. Media propagate ideas and mediate our understanding of the world. In today's landscape, who can we trust? Is expertise obsolete? Where does truth reside in a post-truth era?
This course examines crucial questions: Who earns credibility in media spaces? Whose voices invite skepticism? What political forces drive these dynamics? What responsibilities do media outlets and journalists bear?
Through rigorous analysis of contemporary media theories, frameworks of gender, race, and class, alongside practical case studies and insights from guest speakers, students will develop critical thinking skills to understand the societal processes that determine which voices are amplified or silenced, which sources are deemed trustworthy or questionable, and how these patterns reflect broader power structures in society.
