| Title |
Methods to analyse digital media |
| Description |
Taught by Vihang Jumle.
What are ‘methods’? Which ones to use when and how to study digital media? This course is an introduction to the ideas, concepts, and varieties of methods that can be used to study digital media in the internet age. The class will (1) explore the commonly used quantitative and qualitative methods for studying digital media; (2) discuss their strengths and shortcomings; (3) examine the various contexts in which they can be applied; and (4) plan and develop methodological frameworks. Do note that the class does not teach any method in-depth. Instead, the class introduces various methods, discusses their principles, and explains how different methods relate to each other. This course is particularly useful for students wishing to pursue analytical work in social science, policy, or other interdisciplinary fields. No coding skills are required.
