Viele Vorgänge und Fragestellungen in Anwendungen lassen sich mathematisch beschreiben und untersuchen. Dementsprechend verfolgt dieser Kurs zwei Ziele: Anhand von praktischen Beispielen aus verschiedenen Anwendungsbereichen geben wir einerseits einen Einblick in die mathematische Modellbildung und entwickeln andererseits Methoden und Konzepte, welche die Behandlung von konkreten Problemstellungen ermöglichen.
Inhalt:
1) Mathematische Soziologie: Faire Kompensationsstrategien
2) Mathematische Modelle in der Biologie: Epidemien, Populationsgenetik, Soziale Strukturen
3) Approximationstheorie
