| Title |
Beyond Quick Fixes: Long-term Health Behaviour Change |
| Description |
Interventions aimed at changing health behavior — such as programs promoting regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, or proper hygiene practices — often prove to be effective. However, intervention studies regularly tend to focus only on short-term effects. As a result, little is known about the mechanisms behind the longer-term maintenance of health behavior change. In this seminar, we will take an in-depth approach and engage hands-on with research data, as well as through group presentations, with the underlying phenomena of long-term behavior change (e.g., lapses or relapses). We will critically reflect on existing definitions of these phenomena and the underlying theories. Furthermore, we will interactively discuss existing research gaps and the methods that make it possible to investigate them. In the form of a preregistration (individual or group work), these research gaps will ultimately be addressed and the methodological knowledge acquired will be applied in a targeted way. |
