| Title |
The Human Body: Imagination and Limitation |
| Description |
The human body seems familiar and self-evident to us. However, what constitutes a healthy, normal, beautiful, powerful or even human body depends on historical circumstances, cultural norms, and scholarly debate. Our imagination of the human body, its functions, and its limitations, varies over time.
This lecture series will explore the ideas, expectations and limitations that shape our views of the body. Speakers from different fields will examine how bodies are measured, imagined and experienced. We hope to provide new insights into a discussion that pertains to everybody yet raises unexpected questions. |
